Since its birth in 1888, METAXA has been faithfully and lovingly crafted according to the internationally renowned original recipe developed by Spyros Metaxa in 1888. Production begins with the intense Mediterranean sun, whose golden rays warm the rich soil of Greece, producing wonderfully sweet, plump grapes. Only the ripest sun-dried Savatiano, Sultanina and Black Corinth are chosen to undergo METAXA’s traditional double distillation process.

The resulting distillates are matured in hand-made French Limousin oak casks for up to 30 years according to the type of METAXA to be produced. At maturations end, the distillates are blended with sweet aged Muscat wines produced on the Aegean islands of Samos and Limnos.

METAXA’s signature maceration of natural botanicals and rose petals, all carefully selected by the Master Blender, is then added. The final blend is in turn left to marry in oak casks for at least 6 months before chilling at 6 C for 48 hours and finally, filtering. When the production process is complete, each METAXA variant is packaged in a distinctive, individually designed bottle intended to preserve the spirits taste and aroma while adding a final aesthetic touch.

• METAXA7*: RICH AND SOPHISTICATED

A very sophisticated member of the METAXA family, 7* embodies the refinement and mystique of its native land. Inspired by ancient Greek vases called ‘’amphorae’’, its finely crafted bottle encases the perfect marriage embracing the finest wine distillates matured in oak casks for 7 years, aged Muscat wines from the Aegean islands of Samos and Limnos and the trademark secret mix of Mediterranean botanicals and rose petals. Metaxa 7* offers delicate aromas of Muscat and oak followed by full-bodied, smooth flavours of light vanilla and sweet spices.

• METAXA PRIVATE RESERVE: AGED AND EXQUISITE

The most dignified member of the METAXA family, Private Reserve emanates the character and confidence that come with age. Its exclusive, individually numbered decanter encases a blend including wine distillates aged for 30 years, aged Muscat wines from the Aegean islands of Samos and Limnos and the trademark secret mix of Mediterranean botanicals and rose petals.

METAXA Private Reserve bears a glorious amber colour and delicate aromas of oak, hazelnuts, dried fruit and warm spice. Well-balanced and full-bodied, it offers mellow, mature flavours and a haunting finish.

• AEN METAXA: ETERNALLY SUBLIME

From the very heart of METAXA comes AEN, the most precious Greek spirit ever produced. Behind this ancient Greek word for forever lies an elixir drawn from the legendary Cask No 1, the oldest cask in the METAXA distillery. Every METAXA variant is enriched with at least one tiny drop of the rare fluid of Cask No 1. For over eight decades, generations of Master Blenders have selected their oldest, most exceptional blends for transfer to Cask No 1, forever breathing new life into its shimmering contents. The result is a sumptuous essence of more than 200 different blends, some of which have been aging for as long as 80 years.

In honour of 120 years of international success, METAXA has released 1,888 limited edition decanters of AEN. Inspired by the timeless elegance of Doric architecture, each decanters hand-crafted from luxurious French Cristal de Sevres, sealed with distinctive hand-painted 20.6K gold caps and accompanied by a serial number and certificate of authenticity, hand-signed by Master Blender Konstantinos Raptis.

Luminous mahogany in colour, AEN bears a rich, comple bouquet of forest aromas, dried fruit (prunes, figs), citrus peel, toasted almond and wild honey. Its full, round flavours reveal notes of sweet raisins, toffee, warm spice and a whisper of white pepper, crowned by a smooth vanilla finish.
